The Postgraduate Certificate in Youth Matters offers a flexible and dynamic programme that prepares students to develop the qualities necessary to be effective within their own professional area relevant to the commissioning, redesigning, planning and implementation of services for young people.

Why study this programme?

This programme will offer a multi-professional course to professionals involved (or intending to be involved) in the commissioning, design/redesign and implementation of services aimed at young people.

It seeks to address the education needs of organisations and individuals by providing the underpinning knowledge of adolescent development and subsequent behaviours which will shape the future health of the nation.

The attitudes and beliefs surrounding the provision of adolescent services will also be examined and challenged in light of the current emphasis on service re-design, access and choice.

Successful completion of all modules will result in the award of Postgraduate Certificate in Youth Matters.

This programme is delivered at the Riverside Campus in Chester.

A blended approach to learning has been developed to support all modules, to include supporting materials located on the University intranet.

Students will be exposed to a variety of assessment methods designed to ensure that the content, outcomes and level of the modules are measured in a fair and transparent manner.

In this programme, the following methods are used: seminar presentations, essays, literature review and a virtual child scenario.

The Postgraduate Certificate is aimed at a range of professionals who are engaged in the commissioning, redesign, management and delivery of youth services.

This course will appeal to students with a variety of backgrounds and workplace experience, such as: health and social care workers including school health advisors, health visitors, social workers, volunteers and practices nurses.

All applicants should provide evidence of recent study or writing at an appropriate level.

All applicants will be invited to attend an interview and induction day, where they will be provided with information regarding study at Masters Level and further programme details.
