Introduction GIS and Remote Sensing in Flood Risk Assessment

CPD Course

This course aims to introduce the latest Geomatics (Geographical Information System, Remote sensing and Hydrological modelling software). The module will provide participants with an introduction to Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS) and basic QGIS to enable effective flood risk evaluation.

Participants will be exposed to industry-standard hydrological models and Geographical Information Systems (e.g. ArcGIS) software  applicable to flood plain mapping, flood inundation mapping, flood depth evaluation and visualisation of flood data. Furthermore, participants will also be shown how to utilise and manipulate LIDAR data for use in these models.

There is no formal assessment for the course but a certificate will only be issued upon completion of class-based exercise.
