I joined the Department of Social and Political Science in April 2017 as Programme Leader for the BA (Combined Hons) in Counselling Skills.

Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Manchester Metropolitan University)

MBACP registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist

I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and am registered with the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL).

Overview

I am currently a registered member of the BACP and continue to practice counselling using an integrative approach. Prior to undertaking my counselling training, I started my early career working as a TV researcher for the BBC and ITV. After completing my PGCE I worked for many years as a teacher which included working as a head of department, designing and implementing curriculum and working across a range of educational settings and specialist provision. I also have experience of working as a support worker, specialist mentor and lecturer.

Teaching

I teach across several of the modules on the BA (Combined Hons) in Counselling Skills.

Research

I am currently interested in autoethnographic methodologies and the mixed cultural experience.
