Law is a fascinating area of study that lends itself to combination with other disciplines such as Business, Management, Journalism and a broad range of the social sciences such as Psychology and Criminology. 

The BA Law Combined Honours Degree therefore allows you to study law alongside another academic discipline.

The Combined Honours Law Degree provides a thorough grounding in the fundamental areas of law, while at the same time offering a wide choice of other combined honours subjects, enabling a student to tailor their degree to meet their own needs, interests and career aspirations.  

 

Features

The BA Law Combined Honours Degree allows you to chose to combine your law studies with a wide range of other academic subject areas.

It is not a qualifying law degree but you can opt to take certain modules during the course which would allow you to apply for partial exemption from some of the subjects that you would need to study on the Graduate Diploma in Law, which is the conversion course for honours graduates who have not obtained a qualifying law degree.

Programme Structure:

 

Level 4 (Year 1):

Contract Law, Public Law and English Legal System and Critical Legal Skills. The other three modules will be undertaken in your other academic discipline.

Level 5 (Year 2):

Either three or two law modules, you chose from:

EC Law, Crime, Tort, Human Rights, International Law or Commercial Law. You then either study two or three modules in your other academic discipline. You must then either chose Work Based Learning or Law Experiential Project.

 

Level 6 (Year 3):

You can chose either four, three or two law modules, you chose from:

Land Law, Equity and Trusts, Family Law, Child Law, Medical Law, Employment Law, Discrimination Law, Company Law, Intellectual Property, Evidence, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Research Methods and the Law Dissertation.

Note: some optional modules in the third year may not run if there is insufficient student demand.

Assessment is varied throughout the course. 

Most modules are assessed by an assignment or an essay and a formal examination; others however include tests conducted in class, presentations by individuals or groups, and projects researched for and completed by individuals or in groups. 

The combination of legal and commercial training gives graduates a wide choice of career opportunities. 

This programme is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to equip them for a range of careers in business, the commercial and public sectors, and related fields within the criminal justice system.

B in 4 subjects

OCR: OCR National Extended/Diploma: merit/distinction profile
