Why study Theology at Chester?

The BTh focuses on Christian theology and biblical interpretation and also allows you to study related disciplines such as ethics, philosophy of religion, applied theology and religious studies. Studying part time allows greater flexibility, choice, and up to six years to complete the degree.

The BTh degree programme can be taken over as little as three years or as long as six years. Students may exit after six modules with a Certificate in Higher Education or after 12 modules with a Diploma in Higher Education.

Features:

A wide range of taught modules are available, which may be complemented by distance learning modules. Six modules are required at each of the three levels. Core modules are specified in the disciplines of Christian Theology and Biblical Studies, and a wide range of optional modules are offered in Theology, Biblical Studies, Religious Studies and Ministry.

Some of the most popular careers chosen by BTh graduates are primary and secondary school teaching, a range of explicitly Christian ministries, academia, publishing, social services and voluntary organisations. The programme can also be used for personal, professional and ministerial development. A number of students enjoy their time here so much that they continue with either a Masters degree or even doctoral research.
