Text resizing

The two most popular browsers are Internet Explorer and Firefox. These instructions are for use with the browser versions listed below.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 and 7.0

  • Choose the View menu at the top of the browser window
  • A list of options will appear in the drop down menu, choose Text Size
  • Another drop down menu will appear with options including smallest, small, medium, large, largest
  • Select larger or largest
  • The text in your browser window should now appear larger.
  • Internet Explorer 7.0 also includes a zoom feature that allows you to increase the whole web page.
  • Use the keyboard by pressing CTRL and ' + ' to zoom in and CTRL and ' - ' to zoom out.

Firefox (Mozilla) 3.0

Firefox 3.0 uses a Zoom feature that resizes the whole web page.

  • Go to View > Zoom > Zoom in OR Zoom out
  • If you are using a mouse with a scrollwheel you can scroll text and images bigger and smaller by holding down the CTRL button on the keyboard and scrolling the scrollwheel at the same time.
  • You can also use the keyboard by holding down the CTRL button whilst pressing the '+' key to zoom in or the '-' key to zoom out.

The default Zoom setting will automatically resize all the images present on the page as well as the text. So if you increase the size of text, images get bigger and vice versa. Our site makes use of large billboard images with graphic text which can be made larger using this feature. However, if you wish to resize only the text without enlarging the images you can disable automatic image resizing in Firefox.

  • Go to View > Zoom and check 'Zoom Text Only'.

Firefox 3.0 will also remember the preferred Zoom text size setting you have used for individual sites you visit and will display them at the same size when you visit them again.

Firefox (Mozilla)1.5 and 2.0

  • Go to View > Text Size
  • Increase or decrease the text size with the mouse or by using the up and down arrow keys and pressing ENTER.
  • Alternatively you can use the keyboard by pressing CTRL and ' + ' to increase the text size, CTRL and ' - ' to decrease the text size. CTRL and ' 0 ' returns you to the default 'normal' size.
