Cheshire and Warrington Business Growth Programme

About the programme

The Cheshire and Warrington Business Growth Programme is a consortium of North West based partners set up to deliver business growth activities across priority sectors from 2016-2018.

With a £2.7m investment of European Regional Development Funding (ERDF), this innovative programme brings together key business support providers across Cheshire and Warrington to offer businesses access to a variety of services. The programme will utilise the specialist expertise and facilities available from Higher and Further Education partners and Local Authority Growth Teams as well as several science and business parks within the sub-region.

Fully funded support for your business

The programme specifically targets SME businesses in Cheshire and Warrington, with the overarching aim of supporting over 280 companies with high growth potential. Support is offered to existing small business, start-up, and pre start-up businesses / individuals (entrepreneurs) who are offered a programme of fully funded workshops, and one-to-one support sessions. Success will be measured through a range of indicators including job creation, development of new products, development of new processes and delivery to the market place.

Expertise from the University of Chester

Each delivery partner offers something slightly different, for the University of Chester support SME’s within the region through a mixed approach:

  • Existing businesses: Eligible companies who sign up to the programme go through a business diagnostic with one of our Business Development Managers. An individual programme is then offered, aimed at targeting the areas where support is most needed. A minimum of 12 hours is provided and this takes the form of one-to-one advice and guidance, workshops and seminars.
  • Pre-start: Support is also available for Entrepreneurs who are thinking about starting their own business. Eligible parties attend a two day workshop, working on the value proposition of their business idea and using a Canvas Model to start getting an outline of a business plan together.
