Sport and fitness plays an integral part of this in ensuring that there is a pursuit of excellence, a distinctive student experience, inclusiveness and a supportive culture.
The University continues to develop and enhance its facilities, provision and support of sport to ensure that all students and staff are able to participate at appropriate levels to fulfil their sport and fitness needs and desires.
The University of Chester is also home to some of Chester and Warrington’s elite sports clubs namely: Warrington Wolves, Chester Football Club, Chester Rugby Club, City of Chester Swimming Club and Chester and Lymm Hockey Clubs.
By working closely with the Students Union, the department of Sport and Exercise Sciences, the Grounds and Gardens department and many other individuals, departments, groups and agencies, we hope to continue to enhance the sporting profile of the University.
The university has a wide variety of sports facilities, all of which are available for recreation use at varying times throughout the week during the academic and non-academic year.

- 25m, 5 lane Swimming Pool
- Floodlit 3-Pitch Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)
- 2 Floodlit Outdoor Tennis Courts
- 3 lane 60m Running Track
Various University of Chester sport and recreation facilities are available for use by members of the public. All facility bookings and payments must be made through the Fitness Suite reception. The swimming pool must be booked via the swimming pool office. All payments must be made in advance.
