Chester Centre for Islamic Studies

The Chester Centre for Islamic Studies (CCIS) promotes the academic study of Islam at the University of Chester.

Based in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, it engages in multidisciplinary research in Islamic Studies. Its particular aim is to make current theories and methods in Religious Studies relevant to the academic study of Islam. Working with Muslim communities and organisations, the Centre is involved in various outreach activities to make research accessible to stakeholders outside of academia.

"Building on the University’s established strengths in research in Theology and Religious Studies, our new Centre for Islamic Studies has immense potential for rapidly rising international renown. I welcome its inception and look forward with expectancy to its continued growth."
