Dr Bethan Hulse

Subject Leader PGCE MFL

I am the subject leader for MFL on the PGCE Secondary programme and also tutor for Primary MFL. I taught French and German at secondary schools in North Wales for 18 years and was Head of Department for a year before moving into Higher Education.

My interest in ITE was sparked by my experiences of working with student teachers as a subject mentor.

I spent a year teaching English at a Primary school in Brittany as an undergraduate.

I have an active interest in researching Teacher Education and as a TERN research fellow, I am currently looking at the impact of the introduction of the M level PGCE.

I have taught foreign languages to adults and to under fives at a pre-school playgroup I ran when my own children were small. I am passionate about promoting language learning and I am interested in exploring new approaches such as the use of drama in language education.

I have been a govenor at both primary and secondary schools.

I am currently researching creative pedagogy in language teacher education.
