Laura Hart - Studied Law from 2009-2012

I feel that the degree I gained has greatly helped me to start my career in the legal industry

Laura Hart

“I graduated from the University of Chester in 2012 after reading LLB Law. I have a great interest in clinical and medical negligence and personal injury, which is one of the reasons why I joined Bott & Co Solicitors.

I very much enjoyed my time in Chester, the law department was small which was good as it meant that law lecturers knew you personally and were able to offer support.

I feel that the degree I gained has greatly helped me to start my career in the legal industry because it has given me knowledge of the law that applies to my every day work within the Operations Department.

Areas of law such as Tort, which I studied at University are transferable and that has helped me better understand the processes I face in my job.

I first joined Bott & Co during a two-week work experience placement when I was in year 10. I then continued to do various bits of summer work as a junior with the company, and when I graduated from university I joined the firm full time as an office junior. This enabled me to get a better insight into how a law firm is managed as well as valuable experience where I could learn more about the legal and personal injury industry.

The reason I joined Bott & Co was because of their track record putting the client first, and the fact that the Senior Partner David Bott was President of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers meant he and the firm have a substantial amount of experience.

With my degree and current and previous work experience within the industry, my long-term aim is to become a solicitor specialising in medical negligence. As such I am currently studying for an LPC at the University of Law in Christelton (Chester).

In addition to working at Bott & Co, I have had the opportunity to work within a Coroner’s Court which has enabled me to witness first-hand medical and clinical negligence.”

Paul Hinchliffe, Managing Partner at Bott & Co comments:

“Laura has been with us on and off since 2006. As managing partner of the firm, I have found her to be enthusiastic and willing to go the extra mile when speaking to clients. I wish Laura the best of luck as she studies for her LPC, and as she knows, Bott & Co will support her every step of the way.”
