Every year, the Department of Social Studies and Counselling hosts a national conference based on a Sociology module designed to facilitate student research into a specific area of study related to the course.

SSC Conference

This year the conference is entitled 'Pornography in Contemporary Times and Spaces' and will be held on the 3rd-5th March 2014.

The theme has been chosen by the students and promises to be informative and to ignite lively discussion.

In addition to the students, the conference will be attended by University staff as well as invited external speakers, UK academics, professionals and activists.

The aim of the event is to introduce undergraduate students to current research and debates on pornography with an interdisciplinary approach. Morning sessions are devoted to academic speakers and the afternoon to workshop sessions, which will be led by both academic and non-academic speakers.
