Staff art goes on display at Kingsway Buildings

A collection of creative work by staff past and present from the University of Chester’s Faculty of Arts and Media has opened at the institution’s Kingsway Buildings.

The Art and Design Staff Portfolio Exhibition and Edition features work from artists, designers and photographers who have all taught, or continue to teach, in the Department of Art and Design.

The exhibition features a selection of work from artists across a range of disciplines, from Fine Artto Photography and Graphic Design.

Available as part of the exhibition will be a limited run of boxed portfolios, each containing one image from the 27 staff contributors, accompanied by a text insert which explains their practice and research.

One of these contributors is Tom Wood, a Visiting Lecturer in Photography, whose new exhibitionMen and Women has just opened at the Photographers’ Gallery in London to great critical acclaim, and who will feature in the Documentary Photography Archive which opens at the Contemporary Art Space Chester (CASC) gallery in January 2013.

The Art and Design Staff Portfolio Exhibition and Edition has been curated by Dr Cian Quayle, Senior Lecturer in Art and Design and Programme Leader in Photography, and designed by Mireille Fauchon, Visiting Lecturer in Design and Photography.

The free exhibition is open between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, until November 2 and takes place in CASC gallery, in the Kingsway Buildings, Newton.

The portfolios are limited to a run of 250, priced at £45.
