The Cat Radio Awards will be held at the University’s Warrington Campus on Thursday, March 15.

There has been a record breaking number of entries for the 2018 awards over 10 different categories and competition is expected to be tough.

This year, judges include Managing Editor for Capital Liverpool Ben Anderson; Content Director for Radio City and Radio City 2, Chris Rick and Bauer Radio Editor in Chief, John Pickford. This year’s speakers will include other notable industry professionals including Deputy News Editor for Bauer England, Michelle Livesey and seasoned radio veteran and author David Lloyd.

The awards will start at 6pm in the North West Media Centre on the Warrington Campus, with an after-party taking place at Bar Twenty 10.

Third year students at the University have worked together to organise the event, which promises to include some surprises for those in attendance.

Will Dell is one of the station managers of The Cat Radio and an organiser of the awards. He said: “I’m really looking forward to hosting the awards, they’re such a good opportunity to show off all the hard work of the presenters from the year so far.

“Having professionals from the industry judge each category means that our presenters get some really helpful feedback.”

Michelle Ponting, Radio Production Programme Leader, said: “The Cat Radio Awards are a great way of recognising the hard work the presenters and producers put into the station. The students organise the event themselves and it is no easy task. The Cat Radio is sounding better than ever and the awards is a good chance to get everyone together and celebrate that success too.”
