Dion’s story

Dion Chuma (BSc Mental Health, age 43)

I have made up my mind that failure does not exist in my vocabulary and with all the help here at Chester you can succeed.
Dion Chuma (BSc Mental Health)

I never expected, never in a million years that I would again, sit at a desk, in a classroom environment but here I was. I was extremely nervous, not that I was scared of being in class but that I would be a laughing stock with the younger students. What to wear? Suit and tie, what? How would I look? I put on what was comfiest (with my son watching and laughing at me going back to school).

I was amazed by the reception that I got from both my tutors and the other students, it was amazing. I felt like I had been on campus for years.

It’s never too late and you are never too old to come back into education. It rejuvenates, puts that lost smile back on your face and adds a sense of purpose. I have made up my mind that failure does not exist in my vocabulary and with all the help here at Chester you can succeed.

  • Ask no matter how trivial it may seem.
  • ASK help is there for you.
  • It is revitalising to be a student again. I LOVE IT!
