Caroline Ford
Senior Lecturer
Biography
Caroline is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Communications, Screen and Performance in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Caroline specialising in television / screen production and, since joining the University in 2006, Caroline has taught across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including BA Media and Television Production, BA Film and Media Studies and BA Acting. Caroline started her career in the TV Industry after obtaining a distinction for her MA TV Documentary from the University of Salford. Caroline made her way up from a Researcher to Producer/ Director, working on a variety of programmes for regional and national broadcasters including ITV and the BBC. Caroline still enjoys getting behind the camera and has worked on some practice-based projects including producing and directing a commercial DVD for Super League rugby team, Warrington Wolves. Caroline has also involved in BFI 360 filmmaking academies for 16-19 year olds, collaborating with Reel Solutions, Storyhouse in Chester and other colleagues from the University.
Teaching and Supervision
Caroline teaches on a range of modules and programmes across the DivIsion of Communications, screen and Performance including TV Directing, Scriptwriting, Animation, Acting for Camera, Research Methods, Negotiated Studies and Dissertation. Caroline has experience of teaching and programme leading at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Caroline's current research is focused on filmmaking and sustainability, exploring climate storytelling and sustainable practices in TV production. Caroline is studying for her PhD. Caroline has worked on some knowledge transfer practice-based projects in the past and more recently produced some short films for Mobility of Objects Across Boundaries (MOB), an interdisciplinary project funded by an AHRC network grant, working with colleagues in History and at the Open University.
