Biography

Marta started at the department in 2009 as a Visiting Lecturer before joining the department as a lecturer in 2010. She has completed a Bachelor Degree in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada and has a Masters in Medical Translation from the University of Jaume I, Castellón (Spain). Apart from her teaching, Marta is actively involved in organising outreach event, delivering bespoke events for schools and showcasing the importance of studying a language. Marta also works with European incoming students, offering guidance on their programme of study. In addition, Marta manages the Languages for All programme.

Teaching and Supervision

Marta teaches on the core language module for first and second year, as well as the final year modules “Translation Techniques and Applications”, "Languages in the Business World" and the "Subsidiary Language Project". She also teaches on the MA "Language, Cultures and Translation". She is the module leader for modules in the first and final year, as well as two modules on the MA "Language, Cultures and Translation". Her teaching is complemented with the use of a wide range of internet resources as well as multimedia resources to incorporate updating material and cultural aspects to the class that brings learning to life.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

Marta’s research interests include translation as well as the pedagogical theory and practice of teaching and learning in Higher Education. She is currently researching the role of emotions of pre-service teachers in a Science classroom.
