Sarah Collins
Senior Lecturer
Biography
Sarah joined the University of Chester in 2021 and is a Senior Lecturer in the Childhood, Education and Professional Development department of the School of Education. Her background is in primary education where she has held a variety of roles within schools in a range of contexts, including classroom practitioner, Deputy Headteacher, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and Designated Safeguarding lead. Sarah is Programme Leader for the PGCert. in Attachment, Trauma and Mental health and Module Leader for the BA Special Educational Needs. Within partnership work, Sarah is involved in external projects with virtual schools and local authorities which has involved auditing schools, public sector and community and voluntary sector organisations (e.g. probation service, women’s refuges, drug treatment service) for their provision of attachment and trauma-aware practice for staff and service users.
Teaching and Supervision
Sarah teaches on a range of Postgraduate modules within the Attachment, Trauma and Mental Health Post Graduate Certificate as well as a standalone Practitioner Enquiry Module. She teaches on the BA Special Educational Needs and is also responsible for the supervision of Undergraduate and Masters dissertations.
