Biography
Dr Suzanne Stewart is Associate Professor of Psychological Science at the University of Chester. Situated within an Open Research context, Suzanne’s research examines social cognition using quantitative and experimental methods within collaborations that have applied the findings to cognitive, clinical, developmental, and forensic contexts. Suzanne is a champion of the adoption of open and transparent research practices and the improvement of research culture. She also chairs Psychology's Equality and Diversity Working Group and sits on the university’s Athena SWAN self-assessment team.
Teaching and Supervision
Suzanne's teaching interests lie mainly in the areas of Research Methods and Quantitative Psychology. Suzanne is the Programme Leader for the MRes (Psychology). She is co-module leader for the undergraduate research dissertation module and teaches research methods & statistics across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She supervises student research at undergraduate, Master's, and PhD levels.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Suzanne conducts research utilising open and transparent practices. She investigates aspects of social cognition and moral decision-making, including theory of mind, intentionality, and assignment of blame. Her research has been conducted within cognitive, developmental, social, and forensic areas. Suzanne also collaborates on global Big Team Science studies and has published on the topic and practice of Open Research. Internationally, she is Vice-Chair of the Center for Open Science's Transparency and Openness Promotion Advisory Board, a member of ORCID's Researcher Advisory Council, Assistant Director (Study Selection) for the Psychological Science Accelerator, and a Registered Reports editor for Scientific Reports. Suzanne coordinates the Chester Open Research Alliance (CORA) and represents CORA in the UK Reproducibility Network.
