The Riverside Innovation Centre

The Riverside Innovation Centre (RIC) opened officially in September 2011, following a complete internal refurbishment.  It occupies the old County Hall Annex building by the River Dee, and is adjacent to the University of Chester's Riverside Campus. It is the University's innovation-focused facility. Its modern, well-equipped conferencing facilities can also accommodate up to 180 delegates.

Following a rigorous funding application process, the Centre is part-funded and supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), via the North West Development Agency (NWDA).

ERDF funding is aimed at supporting businesses and business-start up initiatives. As such, the Centre is not designed for traditional undergraduate programmes, but predominantly for the development and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Aims and Objectives

  • To encourage synergy and knowledge exchange between businesses, academics and existing innovation and enterprise support teams (including those available at other universities)
  • To ensure that potential or existing businesses who contact the Centre can quickly access the information they need in a supportive environment
  • To encourage new business creation

More detailed information about the Riverside Innovation Centre may be found on the Riverside Innovation Centre website.
