Why did you choose Chester?

I knew I wanted to study photography and after visiting the University at one of the open days, I was positively surprised by the installations and the different opportunities that the University had to offer. What attracted me to the University was its Photography programme and the possibility of receiving a more personalised attention from tutors, given that Chester is a smaller institution as compared to other universities.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

What I have enjoyed the most is the possibility of working with different mediums (e.g., film and digital cameras, video, developing one’s own photobook, etc.) which allows you to gain a wide range of skills. Furthermore, being allowed to approach the different topics from a very personal perspective is a great opportunity to develop one’s own portfolio. The internship program has been extremely valuable and has provided me with an opportunity to explore different fields in photography (i.e., commercial and fine art photography).

What would you like to do in the future?

I would like to continue my education in photography or fine arts to gain more knowledge and expand my photographic skills and knowledge. Furthermore, in the longer term, I would like to continue working on producing my own series of photographs so that they could be exhibited.

Do you have any advice for someone who is thinking of studying photography?

Studying a degree is an amazing opportunity. The University has great resources and opens the door to make connections which can help you in your future career. However, it is important to be motivated to be an independent learner and make the most of this opportunity.
