Academic shares expertise on diversity and inclusion at international conference
An academic and leader in equality and diversity has been invited to share her expertise at a conference in India.

Dr Chandrika Devarakonda, Associate Professor of Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Chester will contribute to a panel discussion an international conference entitled 'Futuristic vision: cutting edge issues in teacher education and research' which has been organised by Satyapriya Roy College of Education in Calcutta, India with resource partner of Georgia Southern University, USA.
She said: “I am looking forward to taking part in this panel on June 8 with so many distinguished colleagues to learn from each other and others on how to improve opportunities for the next generation of educators.”
The conference aims to identify and discuss the latest trends in teacher education and research; to address challenges such as equity, inclusion, sustainability and teacher retention in the context of teacher education; to foster collaboration to develop actionable strategies for the future of education and explore the role of technology, inter-disciplinary approaches and global perspectives in shaping educators.
Chandrika has written a guest editorial for Impact, the Summer issue 2025 edition of the journal of the Chartered College of Teaching and chairs the launch of the issue. She will also lead a seminar on June 3 about decolonising the curriculum at a UK university.
Chandrika teaches a wide range of modules on undergraduate and post graduate programmes in the University's School of Education. She is an experienced and active researcher and is a co-chair of the Research Development Community (RDC) of Social Justice, Equity and Diversity at Association of Teacher Education in Europe as well as a being a reviewer for several different international journals.
Chandrika added: “These invitations are a testament to the impact of my publications which have raised both my personal and the University’s profile as well as providing opportunities to share knowledge and understand the perspectives and challenges faced by colleagues of other institutions.”
