MSc FinTech and Business Analytics course team receives Google Cloud Education Credits to support teaching and learning

Beginning in the upcoming academic year, these cloud‑based resources will be fully integrated into the curriculum and embedded within supervised learning activities and assessed coursework. The initiative strengthens the University’s existing digital infrastructure by providing students with access to industry‑standard cloud computing tools used widely across contemporary fintech and data‑driven organisations. 

The credits will support hands‑on engagement with data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and financial modelling, enabling students to apply theoretical concepts within a practical, cloud‑enabled environment. 

The integration of Google Cloud Education credits forms part of the course team’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and to preparing students for the evolving demands of an increasingly AI‑ and data‑led financial services sector. By strengthening the connection between theory and practice, the initiative ensures that graduates are equipped with both the conceptual understanding and the practical experience required in modern fintech and analytics roles. 

Professor Kelvin Leong, who led the initiative alongside Course Leader Dr Anna Sung in the University’s Chester Business School, highlighted the value of expanding the programme’s technical toolkit.  

He said: “This provision supports our ongoing commitment to enhancing the student learning experience. By integrating additional cloud‑based resources alongside our existing provision, we are able to offer students further opportunities to explore AI‑enabled financial applications and data analytics in a structured and well‑supported environment.” 

Dr Anna Sung emphasised the programme’s focus on developing commercially aware, technically capable graduates. She added: “We are keen to support our students in exploring new opportunities and developing their skills through applied practice. In particular, we encourage them to design solutions with business value creation at the core, rather than focusing solely on technical implementation. The availability of additional cloud resources will further support these aims by providing a flexible environment for testing ideas, iterating solutions and reflecting on real organisational needs.”
