Ramitha in running to be named Student of the Year at inaugural national awards event
A University of Chester student has beaten hundreds of nominees to be named in the final of a national awards ceremony.

Ramitha Nittore Ramnath, Assistant Hindu Chaplain at the University, has been shortlisted for the inaugural UK Council for International Student Affairs’ (UKCISA) inaugural WeAreInternational Awards. Ramitha, an undergraduate Psychology student, is one of five students shortlisted from 420 nominations in the Student of the Year category.
The 63 UKCISA-shortlisted institutions, teams, staff, and students all demonstrate exceptional commitment to delivering a positive experience for International students.
Rev Dr Gill Reeve, Senior Chaplain at the University of Chester, said: “Ramitha embodies the very essence of the #WeAreInternational spirit, with a passion for inclusion, deep intercultural understanding, and a creativity in building a vibrant student community.
“As an International student, she has consistently demonstrated exceptional academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to building bridges across communities.”
UKCISA Chief Executive Anne Marie Graham said: “We've received many fantastic nominations with inspiring stories from institutions, teams, staff, and students. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their experiences. We're looking forward to coming together in November to recognise the impact that UKCISA members and International students are having in fostering a positive experience for students.”
Chair of UKCISA’s Student Advisory Group, Pedram Bani-Asadi, added: “International students contribute so much to the life of the UK – academically, culturally, and economically. It’s heartening to see UKCISA recognise not only the achievements of students themselves but also the tireless efforts of staff and institutions who support them.
“The #WeAreInternational Awards shine a spotlight on this collective commitment and remind us how powerful international education can be when students and members work together to create inclusive, welcoming communities.”
The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 19, in the Bloomsbury Ballroom, London.
