University Psychology team reflect on Celebrity Traitors finale and look ahead to second series

The first series of The Traitors’ celebrity spin-off series ended with traitor Alan Carr defying audience expectations to deceive his competitors and win the top prize of £87,500, with the money going to his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK, a cause dedicated to fighting childhood cancer.

In The Psychology Of...Celebrity Traitors series finale podcast, Dr Kevin Hochard, Dr Clea Wright and Professor Lisa Oakley have returned to the studio to discuss the twists and drama from last week’s episode, sharing their expertise to offer analysis on the remaining contestants’ behaviour.

Kevin, Clea and Lisa discuss:

• How using Latin or Germanic language can indicate if someone is giving a straight answer 

• How Alan Carr was able to evade detection 

• The reaction of all the finalists to Alan Carr announcing he was a traitor

With the second series already confirmed by the BBC, the trio also speculated on which comedians, actors and sports stars could be cast for when The Celebrity Traitors returns in 2026.
