"The University of Chester offered exactly what I was looking for: an inclusive academic environment with students from diverse cultures, approachable lecturers who genuinely support your progress, and scholarships that make international study possible!"

Hola a todos!

I’m from Ecuador—one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. Where’s that? South America. There, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology Engineering at Universidad San Francisco de Quito and, before coming to the UK, worked as a researcher at the SynBio & Genetics Laboratory.

So why did I leave all that behind to study at the University of Chester? Because it offered exactly what I was looking for: an inclusive academic environment with students from diverse cultures, approachable lecturers who genuinely support your progress, and scholarships that make international study possible.

Additionally, one of the highlights of the MSc Biomedical Science program is its partnership with BioGrad Education, which offers fully funded skills bootcamps—an excellent opportunity to continue professional training and enhance employability after graduation.

Outside academics, I continued playing tennis through the university’s societies and was honoured to be nominated for Sports Person of the Year. I also tried squash and rounders for the first time, thanks to the wide range of student groups offered by the Chester Students’ Union. These activities gave me a break from academics and helped me grow my network in a relaxed, enjoyable setting.

A great bonus is that Chester is a safe, welcoming city with plenty to enjoy. From traditional pubs to lively student-friendly clubs, there’s always something to do after a long day of studying.
