Coming to the UK for my Master’s was a big step, but choosing the University of Chester turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. I studied the MSc in Digital Marketing, and from the start, I felt really supported, both academically and personally. The lecturers were always approachable and genuinely cared about our progress.

Outside of my studies, I wanted to help create a space for Sri Lankan students like myself, so I started the Sri Lankan Society here at Chester. I’m currently the President, and it’s been such a rewarding experience bringing people together, sharing our culture, and building a community. Chester itself is a beautiful, historic city, peaceful but full of life. It’s easy to get around, and there’s always something to do, whether it’s a riverside walk, exploring local cafes, or attending university events.

After completing my degree, I was offered a full-time role in social media at the Old Palace in Chester, which has given me the chance to apply what I learned in a real-world setting. For any international student thinking about coming to Chester, I’d say: don’t think twice. It’s a welcoming place with a lot of support, and you’ll have the chance to grow, learn, and make memories that last a lifetime.
