Application

Once you have applied, the team will consider your application and whether we can make you an offer. At this point, we’ll make it clear at which level we are offering you a place and when we anticipate you starting on the course.

Transition

The team will also help you with all the practicalities of moving to a new university: getting your accommodation sorted; organising a personalised induction programme for you; checking whether you have any welfare requirements; etc. This should help take some of the stress out of your switch to the University.

Study Plan

We'll also formulate a bespoke programme of study to ensure you are able to complete your course during the remainder of the academic year.

Home/Republic of Ireland students

If you are looking to transfer in to the University of Chester part way through an academic year of an undergraduate course, having already started the academic year at another university.

If you are looking to transfer in to the University at the beginning of the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate course - please apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). If you wish to see if a transfer is possible before submitting your application to UCAS please email transfer@chester.ac.uk including a full transcript of your results so far and the module descriptors for all your modules on your current programme.

For Health and Social Care courses, please email hscadmissions@chester.ac.uk.

For PGCE Primary, Secondary or Early Years courses, please email admissions@chester.ac.uk.

International/EU students - If applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course, you should apply via the International Centre.

The University of Chester actively welcomes students who wish to transfer from other universities. The process is designed to be as seamless as possible, recognising your prior learning and experience to help you continue your studies.

You can apply to transfer to the University of Chester if you are currently studying at another higher education institution and want to continue your undergraduate course with us. We may be able to recognise your prior educational and experiential learning (APL), allowing you to transfer directly into the second, third, or even fourth year of a course.

The University of Chester's Easy Transfer Scheme is designed to make the transfer process straightforward. Our team will help you with all the practical aspects of moving to a new university, including:

  • Application and Transition: We will consider your application and help you with practicalities like finding accommodation and getting a personalised induction program.
  • Study Plan: We will work with you to create a bespoke program of study to ensure you can successfully complete your course.

The application method depends on your circumstances:

  • If you are transferring mid-year: If you are a Home/Republic of Ireland student looking to transfer part-way through an academic year, you should apply directly through our Easy Transfer Scheme portal.
  • If you are transferring at the start of a new academic year (Year 2, 3, or 4): You should apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
