3-18 Inspiring Futures

A teacher in a classroom teaching children.

High quality teacher training delivered in partnership with the University of Chester and our Lead School The Priory in Shrewsbury.

Train to Teach

3-18 Inspiring Futures (formerly Salop Teaching Partnership) is a Lead School Initial Teacher Training Provider and we are proud to have been training teachers with The Priory as our Lead School since 2013.

We are a Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin-based partnership working with schools, academies, independent schools and further education establishments across the county. Our location enables us to partner with a unique mix of schools, ensuring that our trainees experience teaching in a variety of contexts.

We firmly believe that partnership and collaboration between practising teachers and professionals in different schools is the only way to continually develop and improve teaching and learning for the benefit of students, parents and the communities in which we work.

Our programme is delivered in partnership with the University of Chester, who lead on the academic areas of study, while we coordinate the school-based learning and professional training.

In August 2025, Salop Teaching Partnership changed its name to 3-18 Inspiring Futures

The Programme

Our Secondary School-Led secondary PGCE programme is a practical route into teaching for graduates who are passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives.
The programme combines practical school-based experience with academic study, equipping trainees with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to become effective, reflective and resilient teachers.

Throughout the programme, you will develop your skills, knowledge and practice across 8 key areas and work towards demonstrating that you can consistently meet the Teachers’ Standards.

Trainees will benefit from:-

  • A minimum of two placements to offer contrasting teaching experience (minimum of 120 days)
  • 9 days of professional development training on key areas of the ITT curriculum led by the 3-18 Inspiring Futures team
  • Subject-specific and academic lectures delivered by the University of Chester
  • Expert guidance and feedback from mentors supporting trainees to develop reflective practice and resilience
  • Wrap-around support tailored to the individual needs of each trainee.
  • Those completing successfully will be awarded a PGCE with QTS, which will qualify you to teach in the UK and is recognised internationally.

School-Led PGCEs

Our ‘School-Led PGCEs’ were previously named ‘School Direct PGCEs’. Recent changes within the government’s Department for Education have led to a change in nomenclature, but the courses remain the same in both build and delivery. The way we work with our partners and local schools has not changed.
