Meng Tong

Dr. Meng Tong joined the University of Chester in 2021 as a Lecturer in development economics for the Economics programme. Before joining the University of Chester, he worked as a post-doc and research fellow at the University of Birmingham and associated lecturer at UCL. He is also an Associate Fellowship of the HEA (FHEA) and, a member of the Royal Statistical Society (RSS).

He teaches a series of undergraduate modules, including SO4002 Skills for Economics (with Dr Wasiu Are), SO4006 Sustainable Development, SO5001 Intermediate Micro and Macroeconomics and SO6005 Environmental Economics. He is also supervising students' final dissertations in Module SO6206.

His research interests include spatial economics, international trade, financial economics, macroeconomic stability and climate econometrics. His academic outputs have been published in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, the Journal of Empirical Finance, the European Journal of Finance and the Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting.
