I qualified as a registered nurse in 1999 with a DipHE(Adult) through Staffordshire University. Upon qualification I began working in cardiothoracic medicine and surgery before moving to accident and emergency. I am passionate about education which drew me to start my own successful training business in first aid, resuscitation and clinical skills combining my two passions of nursing and education. I began working at the University of Chester in 2011 focusing in the early stages the education of staff and students across the university in mandatory training, before focusing as an academic on the education of pre and post registration nurses and allied healthcare professionals.

I am currently completing my dissertation towards the Master’s in Professional Education exploring student perception of preparedness for skills within practice.
I am interested in researching the use of simulation to develop skill acquisition and retention of both pre-registered nurses and registered nurses to explore the notion of skill fade.
