Charles Ryder

Charles has worked over thirty years as an international project and programme manager. He now uses that experience in project and programme management consultancy, training, mentoring and academic work. Charles has worked in a very wide range of industries and cultures – both national and organisational.  As a life-long learner, he feels that he has benefitted from the learning experience, the people he has met along the way and the knowledge gained.  His learning has taken him into many knowledge areas not only project and programme management.

Formerly PPM Programme Leader, Charles has returned as Visiting Lecturer. Previous Visiting Lecturer experience has been at the University of Westminster BSc in Computer Engineering; the University of Leicester MSc in Child Protection Management; University of Salford MSc in Project Management; and University College Shrewsbury MA in Military History.  Charles delivers the University of Chester NTI PRINCE2 training to external clients.

Charles is  fellow of the BCS, the Vice-chairman of the Chester and North Wales Branch, a member of the BCS Disciplinary Panel, BCS Training and Development Committee and a BCS Fellowship Assessor. He is a Freeman of the City of London. He is also a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT) undertaking charitable projects where he is Careers Panel Secretary; sits on the WCIT Charity Fund Raising Committee, the Education and Training Committee, and the Projects and Pro-bono Committee.

Charles is currently developing and delivering a management training programme for early-career managers in an international IT company as part of his freelance consultancy work.

Hobbies and interests are wide and include the Arts, reading, History, Sport (especially rugby), walking and exploring new places, food, drink and cultures.
