Free online workshop to support schools on SEND legal duties

The session is designed for headteachers, SENCOs, governors, teachers and education professionals and will provide practical guidance on how schools can support SEND pupils effectively while remaining compliant with the law. 

Key topics covered during the workshop will include: 

• The Equality Act 2010 and reasonable adjustments 

• Section 15: discrimination arising from disability 

• Legal duties around suspension and exclusion, including key case law 

• Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and schools’ legal obligations 

• Recent legal developments and case law updates 
• Interactive, scenario-based examples drawn from real‑world practice 

Dr John Morrow said: “Schools are working under increasing pressure, particularly when it comes to meeting the needs of pupils with SEND. This session aims to give education professionals clear, practical insight into their legal responsibilities, while also exploring realistic ways to balance compliance with compassionate, effective support for pupils.”
