What is a PAT?

Your PAT is a member of staff within your academic area and your first point of contact for academic advice, questions and concerns. 

They can support you throughout your studies and help you access additional University support when needed.

Who is my PAT?

All undergraduate and postgraduate taught students are assigned a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) when they join the University.

You'll usually meet your PAT during your first few weeks. If you haven't met them yet, you can find their details in the My Details tile  on the UoC app or on Moodle.

How often should I meet my PAT?

You should meet with your PAT at least three times each academic year. Meetings usually take place during Welcome Week, later in the Autumn Term, and again after Christmas or during the Spring Term.

Your PAT will regularly check in with you, and you can contact them at any time if you'd like additional support.

Can I change my PAT?

Yes. If you feel a different PAT would better support your academic or personal needs, you can request a change. Speak to your Course Leader or Head of Division/School and email sp@chester.ac.uk to start the process.
