Psychology Of... Families discussed in latest podcast episode

With May 15 having marked the International Day of Families, regular host Dr Clea Wright was joined by fellow Psychology Senior Lecturers Dr Linda O'Neill and Dr Mandy Yilmaz to discuss how children develop attachments to their parents and caregivers.

It is the latest in the Psychology Of... series, which in previous episodes has discussed topics such as exercise, reading fiction and attraction, while also providing analysis on major hit TV show The Traitors and its celebrity counterpart.

Within this new 30-minute episode, the team discusses the importance of attachment and how research into this has helped evolve practice in healthcare settings, as well as how developing children’s independence differs in the UK from other nations.

The team also talk about how parents going through divorce proceedings should manage conflict situations, during and post-divorce, so as not to impact children negatively.

Clea said: “It’s been fascinating to hear the insights from my colleagues Linda and Mandy about families, which we hope listeners will find really interesting.

“We have several more topics lined up to discuss in the coming months, as we keep ourselves busy before the next Celebrity Traitors series, where we will once again be keenly watching and providing analysis with our weekly podcasts.”

The Psychology team will be hosting a Traitors-based event at Chester’s Picturehouse in July as part of this year’s Festival of Ideas.
