Creative Campus Kingsway Visit Warrington and Vale Royal College and Woodchurch High

On 1st May 2024, 21 year 9 – 13 pupils from Warrington and Vale Royal College and Woodchurch High School visited the Division of Communication, Screen and Performance to experience what life as a student at the University would be like. The pupils watched a performance by current Masters Dance students before undertaking a dance workshop and a tour of the Creative Campus at Kingsway.

Victoria McNamara, from Woodchurch High School, one of the University’s priority schools, said “The experience was a great opportunity for our pupils, and they all said what a great time they have had. The creative workshop was excellent and gave the pupils an insight into the course material and activities that they might experience if they chose to attend Chester University. The students were great with the pupils; engaging and providing lots of information.”

The day was hosted by Associate Professor Dr. Evelyn Jamieson and Nicole Wellings, Senior Lecturer in Dance, who said “We always look forward to welcoming schools and colleges to our Creative Campus, it allows us to give a glimpse into our vibrant community and the myriad of opportunities available to our students. Through tailored tours, interactive sessions, and engaging activities, we aim to share the possibilities that lie ahead when studying here at the University of Chester. Our students - as partners - are able to perform to new audiences and gain experience in delivering workshops. The opportunity to share their student stories with young people provides an invaluable insight into life at university.”
