"I would highly recommend Chester to other international students because the University supplied me with unlimited warmth and continuous support."
I chose to study in the UK as it has an impressive international reputation and it would allow me to develop my personal skills via a vibrant social life. I came to Chester because of its outstanding facilities. My course (MPhil Mechanical Engineering ) is part of the Science and Engineering faculty based at Thornton Science Park- a major research and innovation hub for the North West of England. This campus has provided me with world-class research facilities to conduct cutting-edge laser materials processing research.
The Mechanical Engineering programme provides a broad approach to the advanced study of laser technology and material science in the UK. I was also given the opportunity to attend international conferences, workshops and seminars at Russell Group institutions. Thanks to the programme, I am now employed by the University as a Research Assistant. The work I did with laser material processing as an MPhil student is now part of my day-to-day routine. The responsibilities of the job are mainly related to what I have learnt in the UK, such as surface engineering and coating technology on the pipeline (metallic materials) and how to work collaboratively with the industry as a whole.
Chester is an attractive and vibrant city which I have thoroughly enjoyed living in. The city was built by the Romans and residents can enjoy living in a city which still has so many historical aspects intact. I would highly recommend Chester to other international students because the University supplied me with unlimited warmth and continuous support. Chester also provided me a platform to showcase my research ability and potential in a competitive research environment.
