Biography
Janet is an experienced mixed-methods researcher in the Centre for Ageing and Mental Health which is based in Chester Medical School. Janet is skilled in qualitative and quantitative research methods and has also undertaken Social Return on Investment training with Social Value UK. Janet works with colleagues in the Centre, the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society, and the wider university. Janet's work in the Centre focuses mainly on the health and wellbeing of older adults and encompasses a variety of relevant topics. Janet also collaborates closely with colleagues with other research interests so has been involved in a wide range of research and evaluation projects. Janet has also successfully collaborated with colleagues to develop funding applications which have facilitated research intended to enhance quality and service delivery in care homes. For example, producing a toolkit to safeguard older adults living in care homes, care home staff, and individuals visiting care homes during pandemics and infectious disease outbreaks. Additionally, Janet works with colleagues out with the University, for example, Prince Songkla University Thailand, Cheshire West and Chester Council, and the voluntary sector.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Janet’s research interests include, social isolation and loneliness, the health impact of scams, public health, the use of Mass Observation data, and adult social care.
