Biography

I am a public health practitioner from Nepal. I acquired my public health degree from Nepal before coming to the UK for higher studies. I got further training in the field of health geography while pursuing an MA and PhD at the University of Durham. I joined the University of Glasgow as a post-doctoral research fellow in 2018 for a research consortium that focused on the sustainable development of cities in developing countries. Through these years, my research is mostly in the field of health inequalities and directed towards exploring the role of place in creating these gaps. I joined the University of Chester in 2021, where I lead two modules and supervised MPH and doctoral students.

Teaching and Supervision

Cohort leader: January 2022 Module leader: NM7110-Research in Community Practice PH7017 – Theories and Principles in Public Health Personal Academic Tutor: I currently provide personal tutor support to more than 60 MPH students Research Supervisor: Research supervisor for Masters of Public Health students completing the PH7013 Research dissertation module. Doctoral Supervisor: I co-supervise two (professional) doctorate students.

Research and Knowledge Exchange

My principal research interests are in the field of Public Health and Health Geography, specifically related to social determinants of health, geographical inequalities in health, urban health, and health service management. As a Research Fellow in an international consortium led by the University of Glasgow, I was involved in coordinating the health theme and making key contributions to the research design and project implementation. The research publications from this project are in the development phase.
