Biography

Richard is a Lecturer in the Division of Communications, Screen and Performance in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Richard specialises in journalism, sports journalism, and radio/podcast production. Having spent over 20 years working at the BBC for the World Service and Radio 5 Live, Richard has a rich experience of reporting, presenting and producing - and has interviewed some of the biggest names in sport. During a globe-trotting career at BBC Sport, he covered four World Cups, two European Championships, the Copa America, two Africa Cup of Nations, and two Asian Cup tournaments. As a freelancer, he recently worked as a producer for Radio 5 Live’s Sunday morning show - and is currently working on an in-depth podcast series about African football for Goal.com.
