Biography
Victoria Arnold is a registered social worker and the Programme Lead for the BA Social Work degree as well as being a senior lecturer in the social work department. Victoria’s area of social work practice is Child Protection. Victoria is also a CAID affiliate. Victoria leads on the following modules: - Children & Family Social Work - Human Growth & Development - Advanced Skills for Social Work Practice - Approaches to Research
Teaching and Supervision
Victoria Arnold is interested in experiential learning, team-teaching, teaching in partnership with students and developing innovative and creative teaching methods. Victoria is also keen to explore Interdisciplinary teaching opportunities. Prior to working at the University of Chester in the field of social work Victoria has taught in various universities, international colleges, language schools, mainstream schools and private companies in the UK, Australia and Japan. Victoria taught EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and Business English to students (whose 1st language was not English) when embarking on Higher education in an English speaking country. Victoria also taught IELTS and Business English exams such as the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry. As well as teaching in preparation for formal examinations Victoria has been employed by the Board of Education in Japan as an English Language teacher and a Cultural Ambassador within a grassroots internationalisation project through the collaboration of Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology (MEXT), and the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR). Victoria's teaching responsibilities were extremely varied, ranging from teaching children in rural nurseries to working with musicians, actors and government officials.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Victoria Arnold is interested in organised crime and its connection to Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Criminal Exploitation (CCE) both nationally and internationally. Victoria is specifically interested in the following: - Trafficking of people within the UK for the purpose of CSE & CCE. - Interprofessional & Interdisciplinary Education; specifically, Social Work, Criminology, Anthropology and Psychology. - Ethnography, Co-Production, Photo Voice and other creative approaches as research methods. Victoria has been awarded funding under the Research and Knowledge Exchange Grants Scheme 2024-25 to research local safety initiatives for sex workers in Liverpool using photo voice methods.
