Founder Owen Hutchinson developed MANTIS, a predictive maintenance platform using industrial data from Tata Steel Shotton to help identify genuine machine risks and reduce unnecessary maintenance alerts.
He also created AskKate, a secure internal document search platform for McCarthy Recruitment, enabling staff to quickly access company knowledge without using public AI tools. Spectrix continues to support organisations through tailored software and digital innovation projects.

Owen participated in the University of Chester's Venture Pitch programme in 2026, receiving funding, business support and mentoring to help further develop Spectrix.
