Enrolment

Enrolment is the process by which you officially become a student at the University of Chester. It confirms your place on your course, ensures we have accurate personal and academic details, and is essential for accessing university services and receiving funding (if applicable). Enrolment is different from admissions. While admissions involves applying and accepting a place, enrolment is what makes your student status official – and must be completed at the start of your course and again at the beginning of each academic year.
Your Enrolment Checklist
Enrolment takes place in two stages: Online Enrolment (before you arrive) and In-Person Enrolment (after you arrive).
Stage 1 – Online Enrolment (Complete before you arrive)
Once your place is confirmed, you’ll receive a "Welcome to UoC" email sent to the email address used on your application form. This usually arrives within a few weeks of your offer being officially confirmed and will include your Student ID number, password, and a prompt to begin the online enrolment process.
To complete Online Enrolment:
- Log in to E-Vision (via Portal) using your Student ID and password.
- Confirm your personal details and course information.
- Provide any required mandatory information.
- Read and agree to the University’s Enrolment Conditions and Privacy Notice.
Completing Online Enrolment is a mandatory requirement at the start of your course and at the beginning of each academic year; failure to do so may jeopardise your student status. Enrolment is also essential so that, if applicable, we can report your attendance as a student to external bodies such as the Student Loans Company in order for loans/ grants to be released.
Other essential tasks to complete before you arrive:
- Upload your ID photo for your university ID card.
- Pay tuition fees, if required at this stage.
- Access your student email account.
If you need help with E-Vision or the enrolment process, explore our online enrolment guidance or contact ole@chester.ac.uk with your full name and Student ID number.
Stage 2 – In-Person Enrolment (Complete after you arrive)
You’ll finalise your enrolment in person - usually when collecting your student ID card during Welcome Week.
In-person enrolment is especially important for undergraduate students, as it enables us to confirm your attendance to organisations such as the Student Loans Company (which is required for the release of any loans or grants).
When and Where
Information about when and where to complete Stage 2 will be included in the Welcome Week programme of events. Be sure to check your student email and the Welcome to UoC site regularly for updates.
