PR agency conference gives future University of Chester marketers a chance to shine
Industry-focused links with a North Wales PR agency have given University of Chester students the chance to join marketing speakers at a recent event.
The four Marketing BA (Hons) students presented at a PR and marketing conference aimed at empowering charities to enhance their brand promotion efforts.
Yasmin Milroy, Libby Powers, Liberty Lea and Georgia Parry are all in their final year of studies and were delighted to join this free event, organised by Outwrite PR. They shared their university experiences and were invited to join the conference for the rest of the day.
Liberty Lea.
Marketing Programme Leader Jane Martin has developed strong links with a number of businesses and organisations, enabling students to gain industry insights and experience. She is grateful to Outwrite PR – led by owner Anthony Bullick – for the event.
She said: “Thank you to Anthony and his team for this fabulous opportunity. We have been pleased to work with Outwrite PR for a number of years now, helping our students become the work-ready graduates of the future. I am very proud of our students who did a fantastic job presenting to the audience.”
One of the four student speakers, Liberty Lea, is keen to work in the medical technology (medtech) sector and welcomed hearing valuable advice on best practice and effective marketing.
Libby Powers.
She said: “The Outwrite Conference was an opportunity to bring like-minded charity leaders together to discuss ideas for the future of developing marketing within the sector.
“As a student, the day provided invaluable networking opportunities that will help pave the way for my future career aspirations of working in marketing.
“I was able to talk with some professionals in the medtech industry, which is of specific interest to me. I presented my journey so far at the University of Chester as a Marketing Management student, discussing my placement year at Biocomposites and my personal development, explaining how that has helped prepare me to be an asset to a business straight out of University.”
Yasmin Milroy.
Outwrite PR’s managing director Anthony Bullick added: “The four students were incredible on the day and wowed the audience with their delivery.
“The purpose of inviting students in to talk was to showcase the amazing skills and talent on the doorstep of third sector organisations and to encourage them to contact the university to explore placement partnerships and graduate recruitment opportunities.
“I’m sure there will be a flurry of emails to the University from those in the room.”
Georgia Parry.
The full circle of the Marketing BA Hons degree was demonstrated, from student to graduate to career success, when students met a graduate of their course, Nadia McKane. Nadia was a headline speaker for the conference and graduated with a Marketing BA Hons from Chester in 2014. She is now the head of marketing and fundraising at Petty Pool, a specialist education provider for young adults with learning disabilities.
