Systems and Processes to Embed Engagement
Engagement Analytics
Enhance our systems and capacity for engagement analytics utilising the Student Relationship Management system and Power BI. This will include data accuracy and the provision of integrated dashboards for key staff groups (e.g. Personal Academic Tutors), bringing together available data sources on student attendance, equality and diversity characteristics, performance and wider engagement. We will work with students to ensure a transparent approach whereby students understand how their engagement data will be used and are able to access their own data, alongside associated advice and support.
Student Voice
Continue to develop the student voice within our University governance and decision-making structures recognising the need for a timely approach for students on one-year programmes (e.g. PGT) and ensuring that the student voice is fully considered for students starting at various points during the year. We will work with Chester Students’ Union to review the representation of students within University and Faculty committees, planning and quality enhancement processes, providing student members with appropriate training and induction. We will ensure that committee cover sheets, wherever appropriate, indicate how policies and proposals have captured student input.
Recruitment Processes
Increase the involvement of students in staff recruitment processes through the Students as Recruiters We will develop our HR policy to ensure student input into student-facing and senior management appointments, providing students with appropriate training and support before they participate.
KPIs
Agree a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor student engagement, in conjunction with the Mid-Term Reviews of Students’ Performance, and the impact of our strategy, and particularly the impact on student continuation and attainment. We will work in partnership with Chester Students’ Union to ensure both organisations’ KPIs are linked, to encompass both the work of CSU and the University.
