Biography
I qualified as a social worker in 2008, practicing with children and families in various local authorities as a social worker, senior social worker and team manager. I then worked for Cafcass as a children's Guardian in the family courts. Prior to qualifying as a social worker, I worked with children, and as an advocate for vulnerable adults. I joined the University of Chester in 2021 as a senior lecturer in social work. In addition to this I am programme lead of the social work degree apprenticeship (SWDA).

I teach on all of the social work programmes at the University of Chester including the BA, MA and social work degree apprenticeship (SWDA). Modules that I lead include Social work practice with children and families and Applied theory and methods. I also run a Court Skills session across all three programmes which includes role play. I teach on a number of additional programmes including policing and psychology.

Research interests include parental alienation, the voice of children in the family courts, domestic abuse, anti-oppressive practice in children's services, attachment and sibling assessments and the quality and use of parenting assessments.
