Clinical Skills Technician
Biography
Following her graduation from University of Chester in 2014 with a BA Hons English Language degree, Jessica went on to work in the private care sector. She soon found herself working predominantly in Human Resources and Recruitment, having the sole responsibility of hiring care staff for the company. Her main roles and responsibilities included completing interviews, DBS checks, and supporting the training process. She worked in the private care sector for seven years before starting her career in Higher Education, returning to the University of Chester and taking on her role as a Clinical Skills Technician on the pre-registration Nursing programme. She works as part of the Skills and Simulation team, providing techincal support and delivering mandatory training to students. Jessica's current role involves resource management, procurement responsibilties, maintenance of equipment within the simulation suites, delivering Moving & Handling and Basic Life Support training, and project management. A highly organised and proactive team member, she supports the teaching and learning within the simulated environment and has contributed to various exciting projects and initiatives which have enhanced the learning experience for students. She has delved into professional development opportunities to enhance her own knowledge, skill set and progression in her career including gaining professional registration as an RSciTech with the Science Council and ASPiH in March 2023. In addition to this, she had the honour of being part of the AdvanceHE's Aurora Women in Leadership programme which she completed in July 2023.
Teaching and Supervision
Jessica teaches Moving and Handling and Basic Life Support to students across all three year groups on the pre-registration Nursing programme.
