Biography
Victoria joined the University of Chester in March 2022. She qualified as a Social Worker in 2007 and continues to be registered with Social Work England. Victoria became Deputy Head of Social Work in April 2024. Victoria's professional background is in supporting young people and adults with learning disabilities; specialising in the transition from Children’s Services to Adult Services. Victoria has worked as an Advanced Social Work Practitioner and Transition Lead across a number of Local Authorities in South Yorkshire. She has also supported Student Social Workers on placement as a Practice Educator and has been involved in many improvement projects and training programmes. Victoria's passion lies in supporting individuals with learning disabilities focussing on empowerment and progression towards independence. Helping individuals to achieve their goals and aspirations breaking down social barriers.
Teaching and Supervision
Victoria predominantly teaches on the Social Work Degree Apprenticeship at both the Warrington and Shrewsbury Campuses. Victoria is Module Leader for a number of modules including Human Growth and Development, Approaches to Research, Sociology and Social Justice and Preparation for Registration. Victoria is also the Disability Link Tutor for the Social Work department, supporting those students who have Inclusion Plans.
Research and Knowledge Exchange
Victoria's research interests include neurodiversity, change and life transitions, trauma and the impact of the caring role.
