UN conference an incredible and inspiring experience for University student
A University of Chester student has enjoyed the honour of being a delegate at a prestigious global forum which brought together aspiring diplomats, youth leaders and changemakers from around the world.

Marketing Management MSc student Noor Siddiqui took part in the International Diplomats Conference held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, in recognition of her commitment to global dialogue and leadership. The event was organised by Voice For Rights International, a globally recognised organisation dedicated to cultivating future diplomats through diplomatic simulations and fostering youth leadership. Its mission is to promote human rights awareness, social harmony, and sustainable development.
The international event saw 250 delegates engage in dialogue on topics such as leadership, diplomacy, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Noor was one of just 30 who received full funding for the experience, a testament to her impactful contributions and academic excellence.
Noor said: “The conference was an incredible experience. We had 20 inspiring speakers who each shared how a specific Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) was personally meaningful to their journey. In addition, there was an insightful training session on peacebuilding and the UN SDGs.
“It was both a powerful learning opportunity and an excellent platform for global networking. Attendees came from all over the world; from 12-year-olds already creating positive change in their communities, to strategic advisors to the Canadian government and officials in civil service. I gained so much knowledge and perspective from being part of it.”
Prior to the conference, Noor had secured an internship at the Women’s Development Wing of Pakistan’s national Assembly, an incredibly competitive programme with only seven students selected each year. The role offered her a chance to engage with key decision-makers and participate in high-level policy discussions on issues. These included increasing female workforce participation and addressing employment barriers in rural areas, through literacy and education initiatives.
In addition, Noor was selected as a fellow for the NetMission Asia program, where she earned a certificate in internet governance. Collaborating with young advocates across the Asia-Pacific, she contributed to youth-led initiatives focused on internet policy, digital rights, and online inclusivity.
Noor added: “One of my most personally fulfilling experiences was conducting a case study and documentary on the transgender community in Lahore, which I submitted to Cambridge International, earning an A grade. This project allowed me to shed light on the challenges faced by marginalised communities and advocate for meaningful employment opportunities for the transgender population.
“Additionally, I secured a highly competitive internship at the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), where I produced a documentary on the wildlife of the Lahore Zoo. This project involved extensive research and advocacy for biodiversity conservation, reflecting my dedication to sustainable development and ethical treatment of animals.
“My commitment to social welfare was reflected in my volunteer work with Pyar Beshumar, a non-Governmental organisation (NGO) supporting underprivileged children, where I organised visits, fundraising efforts, and donation drives to provide essential resources and support.
“I also remain involved in elderly care initiatives, particularly through my continued support at Aafiat Old Age Home, where I help foster inclusive environments that uphold the dignity and rights of all individuals, regardless of age.”
Stuart Paul, Marketing Management MSc Course Director, said: “We are incredibly proud of Noor representing the University of Chester on such a prestigious international stage.
“Participating in the UN conference is a remarkable achievement and a testament to her dedication, leadership, and passion for driving global change. Noor's ambition, hard work and desire to make a difference are an inspiration to many others to take advantage of opportunities to shape a better world.”
Kirstie Simpson, Dean of Chester Business School, said: “Chester Business School is delighted to see Noor representing the University of Chester at a global UN conference and having such a wonderful chance to network with people from all over the world. We applaud her commitment to global dialogue and leadership.”
