Training future nurse leaders in Pakistan
UK-based and CPD-certified research and training service, SAME RPS, has partnered with the University to deliver comprehensive leadership training aimed at upskilling healthcare professionals in Pakistan, in line with international benchmarks.

The initiative between SAME RPS and the University of Chester represents a shared commitment to fostering innovation and operational excellence in healthcare in developing contexts.
The collaboration focuses on equipping healthcare professionals with the skills and training necessary to lead effectively in an increasingly complex global healthcare landscape. Through a meticulously designed curriculum, participants benefit from evidence-based methodologies and innovative learning experiences, empowering them to set new standards in nurse leadership within their workplaces.
The hybrid course combines in-person facilitation and online teaching, with experienced nurses and academics from the UK, Middle East, and Africa, using modern techniques and digital innovation. The course is accredited by the CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Certification Service, based in the UK, and recognises the learning hours of participants to support their career development.
Nailah Hussain, Director at SAME RPS and curator of the project, crafted this course upon consultation with the Government of Pakistan, and the Department of Health, and identified a knowledge gap in the existing healthcare structure, namely the nursing sector, within the region. As a result, the course was marketed exclusively to nurse practitioners, aimed at developing upon their existing knowledge, and elevating patient care in the region, in accordance with global standards.
Since its inception, the project has successfully trained a large proportion of the nurse practitioner workforce in the region, many of which have expressed interest in pursuing further education overseas in institutions like the University of Chester, as a result. Having generated significant interest from across and outside the region, SAME RPS aims to expand the scope of this project further into South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
Professor Basma Ellahi, from the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society at the University of Chester, assisted the SAME RPS vision, supporting curricula development and content relevance for the project. This forms part of the University’s key knowledge exchange activities, with academics that work across businesses with global reach.
